PALMETTO ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE’S 13th Annual Touchstone Energy Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout raised more than $12,200 in support of the Bright Ideas teacher grant program, which provides funding for innovative classroom projects in our local schools.

The event took place May 28–30 at Old South Golf Links, where approximately 400 golfers took more than 15,000 shots at qualifying for the million dollar final round. In the end, 28 finalists took their shot at winning $1 million. Kevin Owens of Ridgeland was the closest with a shot that landed just 24 feet, 10½ inches from the hole. Owens won $1,000 in cash and a four-day/three-night vacation package for two at The Sheraton Hacienda del Mar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Second- through fifth-place prizes included rounds of golf at area courses.

Daily putting contest winners were Arron Ebert, Robert Ruffing and Stan Dever, who each won rounds of golf at local courses.
