A new year with new opportunity

AS WE WELCOME a new year, Palmetto Electric is ready to continue our efforts of working closely with our elected officials, both in Columbia and Washington.

It is true that with each new year comes new challenges. However, we believe that with challenges also come opportunities. No matter the issues that we may face, our mission will always remain the same: To provide competitively priced, reliable energy and innovative related services to our members and to provide leadership and support to the communities we serve.

One of the ways that we can best do this is by being a voice for you in local, state and national government. In Columbia, we work closely with our state association, The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, Inc. In Washington, D.C., our national trade association, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, looks out for your interests by advocating on our behalf to key agencies and departments.

I am especially grateful for our local state lawmakers who share our same vision and mission. We know that we must we all must work together to protect your access to safe, reliable, and affordable electric service. We are always in close contact with our elected officials and will continue to bring the needs of our members to them in the upcoming year. We are thankful for their continued support of Palmetto Electric and our members.

This month, we have provided you with the names of the local state lawmakers who represent the different parts of our service area. Their names and districts are listed below.

We are optimistic about the future, and we look forward to working with your representatives in the upcoming year!
