More than 1,200 local voluteers, like           these guys, will help the RBC Heritage      happen April 10-16.

From an original purse of $100,000 in 1969 to $6.5 million today, much about the Heritage Classic has changed over the years. Now the RBC Heritage, presented by Boeing, South Carolina’s only PGA event is a Hilton Head heritage that we’re honored to support here at Palmetto Electric.

And we aren’t alone. More than 1,200 local volunteers will be working throughout tournament week, April 10-16. Palmetto Electric supports them by sponsoring a volunteer tent where they can get sunscreen, bug spray and take a break. We hold a drawing for RBC Heritage volunteers, giving them a shot at a prize, if not a huge purse.

We also help our friends with the state-owned utility Santee Cooper to staff the Green Power tent, where we offer members another chance to support renewable energy generated right here in South Carolina. Palmetto Electric is still the leader among all co-ops in the state in Green Power commercial sales, with significant residential Green Power support, too. In fact, the RBC Heritage itself is a certified Green Power Event, 100 percent renewable-powered.

Like Green Power, our Community Solar program also relies on voluntary member support. Learn about Community Solar and Green Power.

We’re especially proud that Palmetto Electric’s other environmentally friendly, “green” efforts have grown this year with our Community Solar program. Members quickly leased all the capacity of our Ridgeland solar farm, shown below, and a second installation under construction behind our New River office. Community Solar is a totally voluntary program, just like Green Power. Visit our website to learn more about Community Solar.

Thanks for keeping it green, Palmetto members, and thank you RBC Heritage volunteers, for demonstrating that winning community spirit.
