Scammers, misrepresenting themselves as co-op employees, are calling members and telling them that their meter is being changed out and they need to pay a deposit.
Palmetto Electric is changing out meters and owners are notified prior to the meter change out, but there is no fee involved.

Never provide a SS#, credit/debit card# or banking info to anyone requesting it by phone, online or in person, unless you initiated contact, and feel confident with who you are speaking. If you’re contacted by someone claiming to be a Palmetto Electric employee, call your local Palmetto Electric office for verification, and notify local authorities about the scam.
