Now is the Time, You Can Make a Difference. Neighbors helping neighbors!
You can help those in Hampton, Jasper and southern Beaufort counties, struggling to pay their bills through a new voluntary initiative called “Give 5.” This effort will help those faced with growing rent/mortgage, food and utility bills as a result of economic hardships caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
Participation is easy…just pledge at least a $5 tax-deductible donation to your electric bill for only one month. Palmetto Electric and Operation Round Up® will match the amount for every member donation up to a total match of $50,000 each.
If you are not a member of Palmetto Electric and would like to give, you may donate by cash or check (made payable to Palmetto Electric Trust. Memo line: Give 5). Donations can be dropped off at any district office drive-thru or mailed to: Palmetto Electric Cooperative, 1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville, SC 29927.
Where does the money go?
Money raised through “Give 5” will be divided up equally among four local non-profit agencies, located in the Palmetto Electric’s service area: Bluffton Self Help, Beaufort/Jasper Economic Opportunity Commission, Deep Well and United Ministries of Hampton. These organizations will distribute the donated funds base on the “Give 5” guidelines.
