IMAGINE WAKING UP to a phone call in the middle of the night. Rain is pouring and wind is howling, but you’re ready to brave the storm and do your job. This is the reality lineworkers who serve Palmetto Electric and other cooperatives face on a regular basis.

While we appreciate our extraordinary lineworkers every day, we set aside some time each April to give them the special recognition they deserve. On April 18, we will honor all lineworkers who have dedicated their lives’ work to ensure that the power provided to our community remains safe and reliable.

Listed as one of the top 10 most dangerous jobs in the U.S., lineworkers often find themselves working in challenging conditions, near high voltage power lines. Commitment to safety is a top priority at Palmetto Electric, especially for our lineworkers. Whether restoring an outage or performing routine maintenance, they always work carefully, tackling each task until the job is done.

As the first responders of our electric distribution system, Palmetto lineworkers are always ready for action whenever the need arises, regardless of the weather, holidays or personal commitments. Without their hard work and dedication to the job, our co-op would not succeed.

In our community, Palmetto lineworkers are responsible for maintaining more than 3,300 miles of lines. Perhaps you have seen them raising their bucket trucks along the highway, installing underground equipment or climbing to the top of a pole to make repairs. Their dedication and sacrifice are something to be celebrated.

Our lineworkers are brave, selfless and crucial to our success. I invite you to join us by taking a moment to thank a lineman for the work they do.  Use #ThankaLineman on social media to show your support for those who continue to put their lives on the line for our cooperative.
